Topology
There are 2 topologies to consider: CLASSIC and INTRALAN.NET
CLASSIC
The classic arrangement below shows how an end point would have to cross multiple "clouds" and inter-carrier gateways to complete the VPN to the Head Office. This exposes the performance to a number of bottlenecks and potential points of failure.
INTRALAN.NET
IntraLAN's Private network topology (built entirely on BT & CISCO infrastructure) ensures that your two (or more) end points no longer cross the Public Internet and hence the more reliable and secure service. We also have multiple routes into the Public Internet, so it would take a whole-scale Internet platform failure to affect our ISP service.
As a perfect example, shortly after moving a (nameless!) retail operation's shop DSL lines to us, one of their Directors (who hadn't yet moved his home BT line to us) was having problems working from home. Concerned for his shops, he called in to our help-desk to be assured all his shops were totally unaffected. Needless to say this quickly brought his home DSL service into our network!
