Voice Over IP
In its truest sense of the word, most people think
this simply means voice over the Internet. Well, yes and no. Its not
quite as simple as that, but when the correct procedures are adhered to,
the solutions available can greatly benefit your business in many ways.
You may have heard of the term Quality of Service (QoS) which whilst
is important, is just one of the factors that you must take into
consideration.

It might be easier to explain if you look at an example of how it all
works. If you take a look at our topology diagram, you will see that the
head office, and remote sites are on our own private network (BT IP
Stream). The IP packets between Head office - branch office never
actually touch the public Internet. However, if you had a home user, say
connected to another ISP (for example Tiscali), you are suddenly pushing
data outside our network, which is where the problems can occur, as you
are then pushing packets outside an environment where we have no
control.
So, without writing war and peace about the subject, there are
certain things that do and dont work. What this really boils down to is,
how much value do you place on your business being connected to the
phone? Can IP trunks replace ISDN lines? Yes and no.Talk to us more to
talk about your specific requirements, and once we know a bit more about
your business, well discuss ways of how VoIP can help your business.
