GDPR is Europe’s new framework for data protection laws, and it replaces the previous 1995 data protection directive. The EU’s GDPR website says legislation is designed to ‘harmonise’ data privacy laws across Europe as well as give greater protection and rights to individuals.
GDPR compliance of your IT infrastructure
The ICO (Information Commissioners Office) has started to issue fines for GDPR data breaches across smaller businesses, this means it’s no longer just the big boys like British Airways for £183m and Marriott International for £100m .
It is extremely important that every business has taken both reasonable and proportionate steps in order to protect their data. This is a balance between policies, training, procedures (in pink) and the technical data protection (in blue).
