    • GEA – up to 80Mps, converged voice and data, SLA, 24/7 monitor
Generic Ethernet Access (GEA) / Fibre Ethernet Leased line – Medium to large office – staff: 20-200 Sites: multi
    • Requirements – Heavy data use, business critical, High quality voice / video, managed services, security, resilience
    • Use of Data – High speed internet access, large file transfer, In-house hosting, Video conferencing, Voice enabled services, SIP Service
    • GEA – up to 80Mps down 20Mbps up, converged voice and data, SLA, 24/7 monitor
    • Leased Line – up to 1Gbps, dedicated symmetric bandwidth, SLA six hours
  • SIP is rapidly becoming the telecoms protocol of choice for phone calls on data networks.

Session Initiation Protocol is the technology used for establishing a voice communication session on a data network (for example over the Internet). A SIP “session” might be a regular VoIP phone call between two participants or a multi-party conference call.

    What Is SIP Trunking?

A SIP Trunk provides the same service you will receive from a traditional analog phone line. The difference is, instead of being a physical wire, a SIP Trunk is a “virtual” phone line which is provided by a SIP trunk.

    Why Convert to SIP Trunking?

With SIP trunks there are no physical lines that need to be maintained and because of the lower price structure of VoIP, a SIP Trunk is considerably less expensive than ISDN.

Depending upon the types of calls, and quantity of calls you are making, SIP Trunking can save you 50%+ on your monthly bill.

Choosing SIP will significantly improve your business communications’ efficiency:

    • SIP enables smaller businesses to compete with large corporations by enabling a much more professional presentation and presence of ‘scale’ than they actually are
    • For larger business, one of the main advantages is being able to more easily maintain that local presence. Regardless of the size of the business itself
    • Reduction in cost for the company’s overall expenses. This is particularly true for SIP VoIP services that are specifically designed for a businesses
    • It offers lower cost calling, all on net calls are free
    • It’s much easier to scale up or down than other options, making it very future proof
    • SIP trunking makes moving locations easy, you can easily take your phone number with you while moving offices or even while traveling
    • More resilient as network outages have much less impact, as incoming calls can easily be routed to other locations
    • It’s ideal for any sized business with at least 10 physical phones
    • SIP is the best choice for any business that has an international location
How Many SIP Trunks Do You Need?

The number of SIP Trunks is determined by a few factors.

    1. Firstly decide how many concurrent calls does your business need? As a typical rule of thumb, you’ll need approximately one SIP trunk for each 2-3 users
    2. Your Internet connection is an important consideration. SIP Trunks do consume bandwidth. Depending upon the quantity of phone calls and need for data bandwidth. We recommend that you have either FTTC or GEA (please refer to the Broadband tab for explanation). The IntraLAN team can advise on the best connectivity for your situation
